John Carmody
This virtual Memory Book has been set up for colleagues to share their messages of condolence and their memories of John Carmody.
John was with the Bank since its inception in 2014 and prior to that he had worked with Capital for Enterprise, one of the Bank’s predecessors. He was an important and key member of the GWS team over those years and played a pivotal role during the launch of the Covid-19 response schemes during the pandemic.
The virtual Memory Book will be open until the end of February.

John, it was a real pleasure getting to know you over the last 4 years. We had many conversations – some work related but much about life outside the office. I always felt that said a lot about you, that working relationships don’t have to be one dimensional and making personal connections were important in a work environment. I also admired how you set a great example to colleagues on professionalism, work ethic and how to cultivate and maintain good working relationships. As my line manager since joining BBB in April-21 when we were all working from home, I spent a great deal of time speaking to John in the six months before his retirement and he really took the time to help and support me integrating into the organisation. I had the priviledge of engaging with John over the past 10 years. In the main, this was discussing EFG issues during my time with one of the lender banks. However, this then progressed in 2020 to me joining BBB due to discussions held with John where I became one of his team.
