I had the pleasure of working for Steve several times over the years initially whilst he was the High Peak Sgt and we had come over from Glossop to assist with some burglars who had run off over Chapel golf course he led from the front we shall say..

Years later when i moved to Dales he was the Gp3 Sgt I was working on Gp1 at the time I can say  you always knew where you stood with him.

 I would bump into him whilst he was out at Ashbourne  Shrovetide Football which he always was very enthustiastic about and clearly enjoyed it beer in hand no matter what the weather.

One of his qualities was he always remembered your name which i thought really helped you intergrate with the shift.

All in all he will be sadly missed by all who knew him and had the pleasure to work with him.
