As with so many of us, Patricia was the first person I met at Heriot-Watt and i was amazed by her capacity to remember little details about everyone, and her gentle, friendly and caring countenance. She was completely natural and genuine and the best “front of house” colleague we could wish for. I never heard anyone say a bad word about her, nor she of anyone. I miss her every day, both professionally and personally. She loved her work and enjoyed every day. We have lost a great colleague and friend far too soon. Goodbye Patricia and rest in peace. xx…

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Patricia on my return to working at Heriot-Watt last week. I started here back in 2006 and over the many years she became a very trusted, professional and kind-hearted colleague. She was very supportive each time I had to seek any help or advice and I’m sure her colleagues will miss her greatly and it just won’t be the same without her. Sending my condolences to her whole family at this time. …

I was so sorry to hear yesterday of Patricia’s passing. I worked with her for 6 years and she was an absolute joy to be around. The most graceful women I have ever met and always onhand with a terbor mint if need. I am sorry to have missed your funeral and thought of you often. You made the world a better place. My thoughts are with your family and friends in this difficult time….

We sat opposite each other for 20 years! The office staff was 4 when I started in Chambers Street a week before moving out to Riccarton in 1987 and then u came in 1991. We learnt all manner of machines, dealt with so many people made friends. We went to weddings, celebrated birthdays. You loved cats, came to see mine.  You had dreams of having a dog one day, a Scottie or was that the one Paul would like and you a Westie.  You were a book worm and if you were not going out to lunch with Louise you tucked in for an hours reading.  I was able to see you twice once with Lorraine and shared memories with delight.  The end came so quickly dear girl but you will not be forgotten.  With love…

Patricia has helped  a newcomer like me, my postdoc, visiting scholar and student  to make a smooth transition from oversea to UK system. You can always count on her for prompt response to even difficult issues.  She is kind, thoughtful, graceful and professional. She will be missed by many people at HWU and beyond….

I joined Heriot-Watt less than a year ago, Patricia helped me a lot in the process of moving from France to Scotland. Her kindness and professionnalism have been truly appreciated, I have only met her a few times but it was always a great pleasure. Thank you Patricia for your help and patience, may you find peace….

Since I joined HWU in 1999, Patricia has always been there: with her kindness and competence she helped me navigate the vagaries of the British HR academic system. To me Patricia was the very essence of HWU; gentle and professional, she was always at the other end of an email… But we enjoyed also speaking of travel, good food and Italian fashion. I will miss you, Patricia. RIP. …

There are not enough words to express what Patricia meant to me. She was such a kind hearted lady and was always willing to listen and provide advice.  It was a pleasure working with her over the years and often has us all laughing in the office.  I was fortunate enough to see Patricia a few weeks before she passed away and I will forever cherish the hug we shared before I left. Rest in Peace Patricia – you will be missed xx  …

My heartfelt condolences to Patricia’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time. Patricia was a star and will be remembered with great affection. She was someone who was always there to help people. She was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and always went the extra mile to find solutions and get the job done. She helped many, many people in her years at Heriot-Watt and will be sorely missed by all.  Sadly taken all too early….

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Patricia.  She is a great loss to us all, and will be remembered at Heriot-Watt with great affection.  Patricia had a special knack of remembering something personal to each of us and always asking after our loved ones or a particular circumstance, offering her support.  Always with a lovely quiet humour and smile.  May she rest in peace.  Love Ruth…

I am so very sorry to hear about the untimely passing of Patricia. She was the first person I met when I started working and had to go to HR to submit some documents. She was really friendly and welcoming and instantly I felt less nervous. University will never be the same without Patricia….

I was first introduced to Patricia by Keith Welsher in EGIS as Patricia was in a tennis group which played on Friday afternoons after work on the HW outside courts.  It would be about 2010.  Patricia was immediately welcoming and made me feel part of the group.  I also regularly worked with her on HR matters for EGIS and found her professionalism and expertise in HR a pleasure to work with.  But it was through tennis that we became friends, first at HW, then moving to the Meadows and Craiglockhart courts, as soon as pandemic restrictions lifted, we were out there, and there were many memorable games.  Patricia has a formidable forehand and could also see a space on the court which her opponent found difficult to reach.  I found her to be a kind and generous person, and will greatly miss her friendship….
