Nigel Pickering

Nigel, much loved family man and Malmesbury GP, passed away peacefully at home on 14th of January 2021. This has been an opportunity for those who worked with him, or were cared for by him as a patient, or who just knew him as a friend, to record their memories and thoughts. We were all lucky to have known him and to have had him in our lives.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin,

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

                                                                                     Emily Dickinson

All nature has a feeling: woods, fields, brooks

Are life eternal; and in silence they

Speak happiness beyongd the reach of books;

There’s nothing mortal in them; their decay

Is the green life of change; to pass away

And come again in blooms revivified.

It’s birth was heaven, eternal in its’ stay,

And with the sun and moon shall still abide

Beneath their day and night and heaven wide.
