I remember the first time I met Nigel, I’d popped into see “mum” along St John Street.

I was surprised to see a young couple sat in her lounge. “This is Nigel & Janet Pickering” she exclaimed they are moving in next door. From that day on Nigel became very much part of our family life. He was not only the family GP and our next door neighbour but a great friend especially to my mother “Marcia”. Nigel was a big part of the community, always a great listener and so patient. He will be sadly missed.
