Simon was such a brilliant colleague – in particular, and surprisingly, I used to enjoy co-marking students’ scripts with him! He was always generous and fair to students, identifying the positives and delicately correcting the negatives – he really sympathised with the struggles of the aspiring young. I am so very sad that his infectious positivity is no longer available to the world.
