I first met Betania when we were both trainees in the department, and have very happy memories of those years! She was very kind and had an abundance of that rarest of human qualities, patience, and I always felt she was a oasis of calm in a sometimes stressful environment. As well as being a good diagnostic pathologist, she made several original contributions to the literature, particularly in breast cancer, that made a lasting impact on patients worldwide. I know her family were very important to her, and that she was especially proud of her little girl. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and daughter at this time, and Betania will be missed but not forgotten.
