Betania Mahler-Araujo

I will always remember Betania not just for her clinical excellence, but for the kindness and calm reassurance she brought to everyday moments in the department. I recall one particularly challenging case as a trainee where I was unsure how best to proceed — and Betania quietly took the time to talk it through with me, asking thoughtful questions, offering careful insight, and doing so with such generosity and warmth. It was never about showing expertise; it was about supporting others and doing the right thing together.

That was so characteristic of her. She had a way of making time for people, of listening properly, and of offering guidance with humility and kindness. Even in the most difficult circumstances, she showed remarkable strength and dignity, always thinking of others and the wider team.

She will be deeply missed, both as a colleague and as a person.

My heartfelt condolences go to her family and loved ones. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing how deeply respected and warmly regarded she was, and how lasting her impact has been on all of us who had the privilege to know her.
