I was shocked and saddened to hear about Steve’s passing. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to know and work with him.

I first met Steve 15 years ago when I started as a new PC at Buxton. He was welcoming, full of advice and despite his jokey and colourful language his knowledge of the job and the best way to do things was second to none.

I remember many times when Steve’s supervisory style would be polar opposite to that of a sergeant he crossed with. Sparks would fly and we would all keep our heads down. If you caught his eye, you could almost see the naughty child within enjoying himself immensely.

I will miss you Steve and the job is worse off because you are no longer here. The place is full of people who will not stand up for what they believe. You my friend were a breath of fresh air.
