I first met Tim in about 1989 through Matt Robertson. Tim was all the things that eveyone has described – with his Sid James chuckle, he always had a grin on his face, he always had the best stories and he always had a beer in his hand – he was the lovable rogue. Ever the optimist, always laughing. Apart from trips to the pub, and quite a few Palace matches over the years, I remember that I used to ramdomly bump into him in, in the street, in Camden or Clapham. He also introduced me the the taste combination and his version of cheese and crackers – digestive biscuits, with Stilton and mango chutney.
But more than anything, he was bright, very intelligent and had an amazing memory – he could talk at length on almost any subject, which made him brilliant company.
He will be missed by many people, and by me – I feel privileged to have known him.
RIP my old chum.
