George Walker
We would like to offer George’s family our sincere heartfelt condolences. As secondary teachers, we were fortunate to have George as our Director-General for the whole of his nine years at the International School of Geneva. For us, he was an inspirational leader and visionary in the field of international education. He was genuinely interested in how the curriculum could be made more international in our particular teaching subjects, the sciences and humanities. George encouraged and supported us in the setting up of sustainable IB CAS service projects in Tanzania and India, which flourish to this day. He was a joy to listen to when lecturing at the University of Bath or at staff meetings and graduation ceremonies at La Chataigneraie or indeed when playing at piano recitals. We also shared with him the enjoyment of training sessions in the Alps for a staff ascent of Mont Blanc to mark the 75th anniversary of Ecolint. Always approachable and engaging, he made time to stop, talk and take an interest in what we were doing or planning in our school. We will forever remember George for his positive influence on our professional lives.
