I can’t quite remember when I first met Steve, it must’ve been over 30 years ago now. He always had time for a chat and often just called to see how things were going. I will never forget when I’d just received a CV from another agency I was also working with when Steve rang up and told me that that CV was worth an interview. He was right, I got a great recruit, thanks from my manager for a good recruit and all Steve got was my sincere thanks for selflessly recommending a competitor’s candidate.

Many years later he found me a contract when, frankly I really needed it, he was always there to help. But that was the way Steve worked, he was there for the long game and he is still gone too soon. He is irreplacable in so many people’s lives, but he leaves a glowing example of how to live a life.
