God bless you Phil for all you did for bath uni, you were an inspiration and one of the factors of to me choosing to stay in the south and study in this beautiful campus. Yu will be missed by all of us andwe will miss youer cheeky wit and funny comments whitch,, raised a few eyebrows!  Are community of twerton miss you too and will miss seeing you pop around for a cuppa and sandwiches . swim happy in the sky with the rest of those taken too soon from your family. sorry about the photo was trying to upload one of me and now cant get rid of it,   sorry!!  …

Such an amazing man, whose early life was not easy. Putting his wife and her role above his own needs, fully supporting and loving her.  What more can anyone ask.  He was an inspriation, may his memory and ethos live on in all of us.  Rest in Peace….

Here at Bath we join with the rest of the country in mourning the loss of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time, and especially with Her Majesty the Queen and our Chancellor, His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex Prince Edward, on the loss of his father. Prince Philip shared a passion for inspiring generations of young people. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has created a legacy of equipping and empowering young people from all communities to build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to make the most of life. A keen supporter of University education, he also helped us to mark key moments in our growth as a University community, visiting Bath as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002 and in the same year officially opening 9 West, home to our Department of Chemical Engineering. He leaves an extraordinary legacy of public service as the longest serving Consort to a British monarch….

Sending sincere condolences and my thoughts and prayers to the whole Royal Family at this time but especially The Queen. A time of great sadness, loss and grief but also celebrating and remembering the absolutely remarkable, inspiring and wonderful man Prince Philip was! I remember being there when The Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen touched down in their helicopter on campus whilst I was a student at the University and my excitement and the honour of being so close to them. Both were full of smiles and chatted so openly, such a highlight! An incredible legacy of devotion to duty, to young people, the natural world, to those from less fortunate backgrounds and many strong passions. His Duke of Edinburgh Awards will have changed millions of lives, his many legacies will live on for generations. With much love, Lucy….

His devotion and dedication to his wife of 73 years, The Queen, is inspiring. His fondness for his adopted country, the United Kingdom, is appreciated. His inquisitive mind towards subjects such as nature, science, sport and theology certainly kept him young in body, mind and spirit. His dry wit and humour was rather mischevious. His passion for young people have given thousands of them new skills, confidence and a brighter outlook on life via through the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme as well as saving school playing fields. He achieved all this despite a fractured upbringing. You see, it’s not so much about how your story starts, but how your story ends. My condolences and prayers go out to his family, particularly the Queen. He will be sorely missed. …
