Book of Remembrance of

Gregory De La Peña-Hall

We have lost my rock and best friend – our lovely Greg.

Greg passed away on Sunday 5th June 2022 after his brave and courageous journey with cancer.  Selfless and always positive, he filled our lives with happiness and laughter. Greg inspired us all and through his drive and determination, he leaves us with an amazing gift of a fairer and more inclusive world.

This book is a collection of our memories … memories we all have of Gregory as he touched our lives.  It is a place to share our memories and stories and a place we can all reflect in the time ahead.

While we knew Greg was nearing the end, nothing can prepare you for the death of your soul mate. Thank you for your love and prayers.

The reality of someone so young being taken from us hasn’t really set in yet.  Life is not always fair or kind.  I was lucky to know Gregory and to have him as part of our team.  He was an intelligent, compassionate, driven man that showed real passion and commitment in everything he did.  I have never met a more positive individual and I was always impressed with how Gregory would keep on smiling when you knew he was going through such struggles.  He serves as an example to all of us and he will be sorely missed.  …

I knew Gregory from our shared time at Restaurant Associates/Compass.  We did not work that closely together but that did not stop him having a profound impact on me. He lit up every room he entered, his passion and joy were infectious.  He had so much talent and I always loved chatting with him.  He made me laugh, and he made me think, and he inspired me to not let the urgent drown out the important.  I am writing this to pay my respects, but also  because I want his close family and friends to know that his loss is being felt far and wide.  I had not seen Gregory for some years, but news of his passing stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away.   He was a one off.  A truly special soul.    Sending love and strength to those that knew him best ❤️.  Kyla x         …

Gregory, your journey has been cut short, however, what you have taught me will carry on. We have had some great times together over the years and I am very proud to have had you as a colleague and friend. The laughter will be my fondest memory of you and the fun times we shared. I remember how you turned up to meet me one day in this photo, off brand, no tie and chinos…it was these little moments. you will be sorely missed but know the impact you made on so many will live on. nice shoes!!! rest well my friend….

I first met Gregory back when we both worked at Elior. I was immediately struck by his brilliant sense of humour and powers of observation. Although we didn’t work closely he was a gracious supporter of what I did and was really sorry when he left the company. But the power of social media meant that in fact I then got to see more of Gregory and how his Professional and personal life continued from strength to strength. Remaining in contact via Instagram in recent years post diagnosis and his selfless and open journey with that bloody big C (with Covid mixed in) was amazing and hard but also lovely to see him find such genuine happiness. Gregory’s generosity sharing this, meant we were all allowed to play some small part of his story Joey, I have never met you but my god it was so evident of the love that you two had and again magical to watch albeit virtually. It feels wrong and cruel to have Gregory taken away from someone and somewhere he was so loved. I hope that you can take some comfort from this book and the many messages I have seen regarding your very…

Gregory taught me a life lesson about positivity I will never forget, and for that I am deeply grateful. His commitment to work, his cheer and his lovely sonourous voice were so distinctive – and very little diminished by his illness. He recounted a meeting with his consultant, who congratulated him on his positive perspective. Thinking about this left me with the knowledge that positivity may or may not affect the outcome of a situation, but most certainly affects our experience of it, and our appreciation of all life’s wonders and blessings throughout. Gregory was certainly one of life’s blessings, and my gratitude and prayers go with him. I hope your fond memories, the love of family and friends and your faith in God may be a comfort in your loss. Heartfelt condolences, Gail…

When I think about Gregory I always remember him with the huge smile, warm and welcoming, very passionate, enthusiastic and full of optimism. He was such a great leader, true inspiration who motivated his team, listen to the feedback and gave the empowerment and flexibility to solve the challenges. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I thought I had an excellent attention to detail, but his attention to detail was impeccable! It was like a little competition between me and him who will spot it first… 🙂 I am so greatful that I had a chance to meet him and to know him.  He will be hugely missed. xxx…
