A letter to Francis Dear Francis As a child my parents often said when good people pass away another light is dimmed in the night sky.  I am no longer sure if this is the case, but I do know that a bright light has dimmed across Oxleas and has gone out of my life.  I will be eternally grateful to you for the support, mentoring and for your valuable time you have shared with me, always encouraging, always caring, always there.  It was sometime into our friendship before I realised just how many others you were supporting, perhaps in the same way.  I remember us laughing when I asked you about your brothers, you said ‘my brothers’, I said yes Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. My dear Francis, it took me some time to write this message as I was completely shocked and devastated by your passing. I think that I am still in shock. I was looking forward to reuniting with you in Bexley. You took an avid interest in my career as a recently qualified nurse in 2014. I had the pleasure of working with Francis in my early career with the Trust.  I have very fond memories of my time working with him in Greenwich Acute Services and am so very sorry to hear of his sad passing.  My thoughts are with his family….

I write this with such sadness. I had the pleasure of working with Francis for over 20 years and he had the most amazing way of helping you through the most difficult and challenging times at work but also on a personal level. When I worked with Francis at Oxleas House we called him ‘the oracle’ – he was such a wise man with a wealth of knowledge and always gave such good advice and support. A kind man, with a big heart, a go to person who was so humble and had such a huge impact on the people whose lives he touched.
