In Memory of

Dan Pearson

We are all deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our dear friend and colleague Dan Pearson. Dan will be greatly missed not only as a key member of the Aviagen family but also the wider poultry community.

Dan’s contribution to the poultry industry was immense, having dedicated over 40 years of his life to a career which was so close to his heart. Dan was respected by his peers for his knowledge, passion and advice built on the foundation of his extensive veterinary experience in poultry.

Dan was a kind, genuine and truly decent man who we will all miss. Our sincere condolences at this very difficult and sad time go to his wife Christina and their extended family.

I first met Dan Pearson as a student at a AAAP conference. I had been dancing with his wife, Christina. He was lively, yet reserved, unwilling to join the dance floor like most of us. He was happily engaged in laughter with his colleagues. After I joined Aviagen North America, I was looking forward to working with him more closely. Both in person and over video meetings he exuded thoughtfulness and kindness. My sincerest condolences to his family. I wish I had more time to work with him.  …

Dan was a God fearing man. A practicing Christian who allowed his faith to guide his day to day work. No doubt this affected his actions and relationship with his colleagues.  He was an intelligent professional yet very approachable and calm under all circumstances. I will miss the chance to chat with him on the corridors of the office in Newbridge.  I will always fondly remember the good time my wife and I had with Dan and Christina during our visit to Turkey a few years ago. Rest in peace dear friend as we pray that the Lord will grant Christina and your family the fortitude and grace to bear your departure….

I want to express my condolences to his family and all of his colleagues. Dan was a very respectable man, a very competent vet. All discussions we had during EU VET meetings or visio calls were interesting, always with a good mood. I will remember it for long time….

Dan had a wonderful knowledge and was a true industry professional. I have known Dan for 35 years and we worked together in Marshall’s, Grampian and Aviagen. I always enjoyed chatting with him and discussing the many industry challenges and things we experienced during our travels. I will miss him, as will so many others. My sincere condolences to his family….

Dan and I were close colleagues at Grampian in the late 1990’s when I was MD of the agricultural division. He will , I am sure , always be remembered by his colleagues on the senior team as the epitome of professionalism. He always gave wonderful wise counsel , from a scientific knowledge base way above our heads , in a clear and understandable manner . I can honestly say that in all the years I knew him , he never once lost his cool , calm , analytical, rational and good humoured demeanour. We had business interests in a bio technology company based out of Johns Hopkins University at the time , initiated by Dan , and it was my pleasure to spend time with him in Baltimore as a friend on several occasions, enjoying a breakfast in a street diner or sharing a couple of sundowners at the end of the day . – Wonderful man, taken ridiculously early ..I hope someone can make sense of it … Good on ya mate  Lewy …

Working with Dan was always an enjoyable experience. Dan had a vibrant personality and always made discussions worth being a part of. Some of my favorite times with Dan were after conference discussions at dinners with him and Christina discussing our hobbies and joys outside of work. As a new professional, he never made my opinion or comments seem less than. He was an amazing person that will be remembered fondly. My heart and thoughts go out to his family during this incredibly hard time….

Dan was a real gentleman – he always had a smile and a nice word for everyone.   I enjoyed working with Dan on a number of projects and liked his enthusiasm, professionalism and his real appreciation.   He was one of the few people who pronounced my name right 🙂 and had a lovely sense of humour.  He will be sadly missed.  Deepest condolences to Dan’s family and friends.   R.I.P. Dan and I worked together over 17 years ago. We were colleagues/friends for 10 years within the Grampain Food Group.  Dan was always a gentleman and very polite, he had a great personality and was fun to be around.  Professionally, he was an expert in his field of expertise and he always gave me great advice. He will dearly missed by everyone that knew him. Life can be so cruel sometimes. Take care Dan, wherever you are. Clay…
