Charlotte Clare Pearse

Mum & Nanna, much loved by all.

Sadly missed, but joyfully remembered.

An Irish prayer for you, Nanna,

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I have very fond memories of Clare. She was an extremely caring person with a big heart. She took us all under her wing in the early days in London and never complained about us young people. We are forever thankful to Clare. Until we meet again Love Eddie. …

My very dear friend, Clare – I will miss you terribly and my heart goes out at this time to Lawrence and all your precious family. Such treasured  memories of all those times spent chatting for hours, the laughter, our shared experiences and adventures over the years. Especially your unique wit, wisdom, kindnesses and understanding.  We first met as social workers in Tottenham in 1977 and our friendship began immediately. You welcomed me into your family and you had a special place in my own family too.  That madcap trip hurtling around Ireland with Lawrence and his friend Frank, when the boys were 8 or 9. They named my little car Hercules because of all his efforts to keep us in one piece around the narrow hilly roads of Connemara, whilst he got bruised and battered, but that’s another story… I think we enjoyed our simple shopping trips as much as visiting all those wonderful art galleries and there were many more adventures still being planned over all those cups of tea and long phone conversations. But I know you wouldn’t want us to have regrets or be sad for too long – so thank you, Clare, for having …

Kay

Clare has been a best friend to me for more than 35 years. We worked together as social workers for many years, joining forces on difficult cases and bending/breaking the prescribed rules on occasion to do the best for a family.  She was insightful and funny, I recall that in tedious meetings with senior management she might, using her Irish accent make a cryptic comment, often involving swine, dogs and pearls to make her views known. She was instrumental in my meeting John, now my husband and became close to all our family. We shared some holidays together and enjoyed long weekend stays in Suffolk. Clare was my star witness in the High Court a few years ago.  She gave a glowing charactor reference  throwing in a few negative asides about the other party involved.  Even the Judge had to control himself from laughing! An intelligent and kind person who loved and delighted in time with her family; especially her three wonderful grandchildren.  She was the best friend that everyone would wish for. With condolences, Kay, John, and Kirsty …
