In Memory of

Brad Gustafson

It is with great sadness that we learned that Brad Gustafson, Vice President-Senior Analyst in the Paris Corporate Finance Group, passed away on April 14th, 2021.

Brad joined the Moody’s team a year ago as a Leverage Finance Analyst. During his tenure at Moody’s, Brad made a strong contribution to the team and brought a fresh view on credit issues. He was liked and respected by all. Brad will be missed by the members of his team and those who had the good fortune to work with him.

In this book we gather the condolences and thoughts from Brad’s colleagues at Moody’s as well as from other professionals he met over the past year.

My deepest sympathy to Brad’s family. Brad will certainly be remembered on the Moody’s commercial side as an analyst with strong intellectual leadership and experience. Brad had naturally reached out upon his arrival to better understand the moody’s way of managing commercial and analytical relationship and during few months while he was involved in the production of the High Yield Newsletter, his emails were always insightful. Sorry and surprised to hear this message,. He was a very nice person, I had a chance to work with him in his previous role. May God give him eternal rest and strength to the family to bear the pain….

I was deeply moved by the very sad news that hit our office by surprise. I did not have a chance to work with Brad, neither did we exchange informally given the extraordinary time we live in. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved. My thoughts are with you and your family. Christophe…

Had the honour to share open space with Brad in his previous job and so sad when I heard about such sad news. Above all, Brad was the kind of person that you would like the world to be full of. The way he cared for others, his willingness to help and his always positive attitude will remain with us. R.I.P….

It is with great sadness that I learned of Brad’s passing and I would like to express my sincere sympathies. I was fortunate enough to work with him across a number of projects throughout its time in the team. He was genuinely nice and friendly and I really enjoyed exchanging with him, even if we never physically met. All my condolences….

I am really sad to hear the terrible news of Brad’s passing away and offer my deepest sympathies. I first met Brad as part of his interview process here at Moody’s and immediately warmed to him. He was very friendly, smart, and enjoyed asking interesting, perhaps even somewhat provocative questions, which made things fun. We also had a common background in that he was originally from North America, which made him another “foreigner” who chose to settle in Paris to explore the French culture and way of life. Although we were unfortunately not able to meet physically once he joined, given the ongoing and highly annoying restrictions, it was a pleasure to work with him and share our thoughts and viewpoints – which I will seriously miss. Again, my most heartfelt condolences. …

Such sad news. Although we worked in different offices and covered different sectors, we had together several Rating Committees where Brad’s contribution was always insightful and valuable. We had a few chats outside of committee when Brad got in touch to try to enhance his knowledge of “Moody’s ways”. Right from the start I found him hugely likable and very thoughtful, knowledgable, inquisitive, and kind. Great attributes. We never got the chance to meet but I am sure he would have been great company outside of work too. …
