In Loving Memory of

Adedoyin Onagoruwa (B.Sc., MBA, MAcc, CICA, ACIB, FCA)

Some people pass through our lives and leave memories; others leave a lasting imprint on our hearts, a lasting positive impact. Adedoyin was one of such rare gem!

He was a dear classmate, a leader, a friend, and someone whose presence brought warmth, laughter and meaning to the lives of those around him. He was loved by all who knew him, and his kindness, generosity and willingness to give of himself made him truly special.

He gave his all — to his friends, to the people he cared about, and to the things that mattered to him. He was someone for whom others were willing to sacrifice, because he himself understood the value of giving, supporting and standing by those around him in time of need.

His passing has left a void that cannot easily be filled. Yet, in remembering him, we choose not only to mourn his absence but to celebrate the life he lived, the friendships he formed, the lives he touched and the memories he gave us.

This book is a collection of those memories — a tribute from classmates, friends and those who had the privilege of knowing him. Each page reflects a different part of the person he was and the place he continues to hold in our hearts.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories remain. His laughter, his kindness, his sacrifices and the moments we shared will continue to remind us of a life that mattered deeply.

Adedoyin, a True friend, a True leader………..Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever a part of us.

Once again, death proves so unkind. This loss has truly hit home, and I must confess that I have been deeply distraught since I heard the news. Doyin, in school, you were nothing short of a gem. I unfortunately related with very few people at the time, but I can never forget the few moments we shared. The genuineness in your eyes and the warmth you carried were always a beautiful welcome to anyone who crossed your path. Fast forward to many years later, last year was the first time we met again since school, and you made my stay in Detroit truly memorable. That reunion now carries an even deeper meaning for me. The painful part is that I was still in Detroit during the World Cup in July. I remember we were supposed to go to the park on the 4th of July, when you texted me that you wouldn’t be able to make it because you were unwell. I simply replied, “Get well, Doyin. I’m sure it’s stress.” I wish I had pressed further. I wish I had asked more about your health. I wish I had visited to check on you before I left Detroit…

Adedoyin. You came, you saw and you conquered. Just like our Mayflower moto: “Knowledge is Light”, you were full of Knowledge and wisdom and you showed the world the LIGHT IN YOU. My brother you will be seriously missed. Rest in peace and in God’s bossom.  …

Hmm, Doyin, this is too heavy to bear, what a shock to hear this news.indeed life is fleeting, one minute it’s gone   Such an affable soul. Knowing you all these years from primary school to high school, you challenged me on so many levels. After all the science studies in high school, we ended up as chartered accountants 😂 not Doctors, Engineers or Pharmacists, what an irony. You gave your time, substance and intellect to everyone that came your way. Such a short life but still a huge impact. My friend and Brother, sleep on, find rest eternal  To your wife and kids, my condolences, may the Lord comfort you all, to your siblings and extended family, find comfort in God. To the wider friends community, let’s play his values forward in our interactions. Rest on my friend Adedoyin till we meet 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️…

Doyin??? Writing this tribute is so strange and painful. Goodnight Doyin, dear friend, brother, and Class Governor… our Guy. We were all chatting just the other day, all jokes and banter – about football, politics, business and everything in between… just like many times before. This is all so sudden and shocking, like a bad dream. Alas, we must face this cold reality, with God’s help. Doyin… The man with a heart of gold. Calm, kindhearted, and generous with his time, attention and laughter. If leadership and selfless service were a person, that was Doyin. He made it look easy. He had a laugh and a shrug for just about every situation, and words like “..we will deal with it… it does not really matter anyway…”. In our huge class of diverse characters, he knew practically everyone by name and flowed with all. He was always willing to help, with that knowing smile when he realized that you did not even know where to begin on an issue, yet with such humility, downplaying his unusually high intelligence and drive, and high ambitions. Yes, Doyin was a trailblazer and a visionary, and wise beyond his years. So many things he…

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my good friend, Doyin. It is difficult to find the right words when someone who meant so much is suddenly no longer with us. Doyin was more than just a friend. He was someone whose presence, friendship, kindness, and the memories we shared will remain with me for a lifetime. Losing him is painful, and it is still difficult to believe that he is gone. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and everyone whose life he touched. May they find strength and comfort during this incredibly difficult time. Doyin, you will be greatly missed, but you will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, my dear friend. Until we meet again….

My darling Uncle Dee, This hurts, this really hurts. These past few days, I’ve found myself reliving the way you would delightfully cheer me on and call me “A-Tolu-bay-bay-bay.” Looking back, the most beautiful and tiniest moments have now become the biggest memories. You were so selfless and kind, and you shared your life with us wholeheartedly. Thank you for always looking out for me, for being a dependable guide, and for being  a dear big brother. This loss truly hurts, but we remain consoled by the knowledge that you are resting at the feet of your Maker. I love you so much, and I pray that your soul rests peacefully. Good night, Uncle Dee. Sleep well. Until we meet again, to part no more….

How do you even find the right words to say goodbye to someone you never imagined you would have to say goodbye to? Adedoyin, this is still so hard to believe. Somehow, writing about you in the past tense does not feel right. It feels like a mistake. Like any moment now, someone will say this is not real and we will all laugh about how impossible it was. I keep thinking about the memories we shared, the conversations, the laughter, the little moments that seemed so ordinary at the time but now mean so much. I never knew that one day I would look back at those moments and wish I could have just one more. You were a beautiful soul, and those of us who knew you were blessed to have crossed paths with you. You had a way of making people feel comfortable around you. You gave freely, you cared deeply and you were always willing to be there for others. You did not have to make a big show of who you were. Your actions spoke for you. What hurts the most is knowing that there will be no more conversations, no more laughter, no…

Onagoruwa Adedoyin — our dear brother.   You came into our lives as an in-law, but you quickly became a son and a brother in the truest sense. You were kind, respectful, loving, and full of life. You loved your family deeply, and we all felt it.   Your passing has left a big hole in our hearts. We held on to hope till the very end, but God called you home.   Daddy Damoche (as I fondly called you), thank you. Thank you for the love you showed my sister. Thank you for respecting our family as your own. Thank you for your smiles, your words, your presence.   You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts.   We will miss you at all times, in every quiet moment, in every story we tell.   You fought well. You loved well. You lived well.   We pray that God should comfort every broken heart, strengthen your wife and children— be their strengths when they are weak.   Grant Adedoyin eternal rest in Your bosom. Forgive his shortcomings and welcome him home.   Give our family the strength to bear this…
