I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Sir Ashok.

I found him a kind-hearted, soft-spoken and very sincere man. I will always remember how he went out of his way to get to know me when I joined the Board of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, and he was Chair of the Joint Funding Board.

I have fond memories of relaxed discussions with him over lunch at his London Club, the Carlton; and it was my experience that time spent with Sir Ashok was always enriching, interesting and most worthwhile.

My condolences to the family and loved ones he has left behind.
