I was very sad to hear about Stuart. He became a friend to me over the past ten years or so through my work at Alzheimer’s Research UK. Not only was Stuart a scientist who had driven significant research breakthroughs, he also cared about the wider issue of dementia and helped us campaign for greater attention from Government and society. Above all, he was excellent company – a witty and thoughtful man, who was genuinely interested in people and asking bigger questions about life. I will miss him, and I was glad to know him.
