Francis Adzinku
Francis,
A truly compassionate and supportive person.
No matter someone’s walk of life – race, gender, creed – you would strive to bring the best out of everyone.
For me, I must thank you for all you have done. You mentored me through my earliest days as a nurse, helped me to understand and navigate the system in which I worked, while supporting me to grow and learn.
It was of no surprise that you pursued you’re doctoral studies in search of a ‘true measure’ of compassion. Although that part of your journey hadn’t quite closed, your own actions and way of life has given us a model for which we all can follow.
You are a silent warrior, doing so much for nursing, yet never craving or demanding the spotlight. You would always raise people to you and beyond, seeing your achievements through the work of others. This is such a rare and distinguishing characteristic.
It is befitting that you always held that card with the message of Francis of Assisi in your wallet, since first received from a patient several years ago:
“where there is hatred, let me sow love;
 where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
 where there is darkness, light;
 where there is sadness, joy.”
Your memory will live on through the legacy that you have set in the lives of your friends, family, colleagues and patients. It is of no surprise that you will be missed by so many.
Rest in peace.
