Don Henson

Don was so many things to me. He was my dissertation supervisor, my mentor and my friend. He inspired me to take up a career in education after teaching me at York, during the wonderful year I was at King’s Manor. His boundless positivity and enthusiasm for life were infectious, and it was impossible not to love him. His impact on me and my peers will resonate for a long time to come.

Knowing him and working with him were great privileges which I will never forget because he taught me so much. He showed me how education could be transformative in people’s lives, and how every student is valuable and unique in the way they learn. I try and carry this forward in my own career and I hope that his legacy will be far-reaching in this way. I also won’t forget the pub recommendations he gave me, (The Blue Anchor down in Helston did not disappoint!) nor the many happy evenings we spent in the pub with our cohort.

Thank you for it all Don, I am so very glad to have known you. Sarah x
