A lot of us will have started our careers in political risk by taking some particularly spicy little enquiry to Nick Kilhams. I’d sit there, nervously, awaiting the swift judgement from the big man and feeling the stare from the brokers queued behind. Only after time do you realise just how magnanimous he was to anyone who sat down with him, no matter their age, background, experience or knowledge. Here’s to that kindness.
