Jill Kay

My first memories of meeting Jill were all of her helping me. I was relatively inexperienced in people management back then and I remember having some problems and her being there and helping me through it. I remember frequently passing the HR/recruitment desks in GDS and looking for her friendly smile. Jill was so ready to help and so good with advice that she then became my go-to person, a mentor of sorts on all things people related. Later Jill started working for the same directorate as me in GDS and as a private secretary. I was going through some health issues at the time and Jill helped me through it, basically making sure all the admin didn’t become a burden. I didn’t even ask for her help but she just picked it up. I have found that this is rare in the workplace, to help people when there is no benefit to oneself. I have frequently thought what a special person Jill is/was and how much better off we’d be if we had more Jill’s. I’m so devastated to hear the news and wish I could tell her a big thank you and how wonderful I thought she was.
