I was deeply saddened to hear about Dave’s recent passing. I must admit, it was a total shock since we had only recently caught up for a beer in the city, and as ever, Dave was in great spirits.

We worked closely together for six years, and even after he left Nomura, we stayed in touch, often catching up socially. I distinctly remember Dave taking the bragging rights for a Tuesday night 1-0 Blackpool away win over QPR at Loftus Road (though bragging wasn’t really Dave’s style – instead, we grabbed a quick post-game beer!).

He was a true gentle giant, always up for a laugh and someone with a natural gift for bringing people together. As a project manager and as a friend, he made a lasting impact on those around him. That was clear from all the kind messages from Nomura colleagues.

He’ll be greatly missed and fondly remembered. RIP, Dave.
