John was a really great guy. Initially looks like a tough auditor, then he cracks a smile and everything was OK.

I enhoyed working with him in Derby and subsequently in when he moved to RSSB and then many times after in the CEN Standards committees (in various European capitals).

When he came to Paris we always met up for an evemning meal and he spoke about his family and daughter (at the Moulin Rouge), his charity bike rides and his plans to settle by the coast.

Really, lovely man.
