John was a highly motivated, passionate, driving force in railway standards, assurance and conformity assessment, in the UK and across Europe. He leaves a fantastic legacy. I loved John’s no-nonsense style and humour and I particularly enjoyed joining him at UKAS parliamentary events held in the House of Lords. John was always well turned out, taking pride in his appearance, but especially so for these events. He always seemed uncannily at home in the Lords! You will be missed hugely John, but so much of you will live on. Thank you.
