Its with a heavy heart and profound shock that I’ve learned about the death of a colleague and Head of Garowe Field Officer of EUCAP-Somalia Markku Laine. 

The mission and Finland delegates in Somalia have lost a reliable leader and strong factor in the capacity building of the mission who until his death served us the Garowe field office. All colleagues agreed that Markku Laine will be remembered as an outstanding and distinguished personality who served the mission with demonstrated zeal. 

I share my deepest sympathies with the families, friends, colleagues, people of Finland in Somalia and the entire EU missions.

May his soul rest in peace.
