Margaret was quite simpy an essential part of DfT rail.
In any institution there are some key people who shape it around them, just as it shapes them. I still know what Margaret thought about many of my policies, and it matters what Margaret thought – and it still will even if she isn’t here. It made me happy if she approved of a solution or a proposal, and it built that invisible sense that it was the right thing to do. Its hard to imagine doing all this without her.
Also she was a great person to be around. She made me laugh, and I’ll miss her. Please know how much she meant to the people that worked with her. x
