This is sad and shocking news. I have known Simon as a wonderful colleague in the plant cell wall field for around 30 years. It was always a pleasure to meet up with him and discuss things and he was always helpful, friendly and easy going. He made considerable contributions to the field and he will be sorely missed. My condolences to his research group members and his family.
