I worked for and with Gavin for over 20 years starting back in the Express Dairies days. In the beginning we often clashed but gradually got to know each other and became good friends.

Gavin always had your best interests at heart and was always supportive. You always knew he was there for you.

I have many fond memories of Gavin, not least, working on an equipment roll-out in Settle where he left me in charge for the morning and I allocated him the workshop to install equipment, something he didn’t initially thank me for, but later said he had a great time working in there. We had a couple of catch phrases we often used like RTFM (Read the ***** Manual) and JFDI (Just ***** Do It).  

We travelled quite a lot together over the years and spent a lot of time eating and drinking both alone and with others and Gavin was always great company. Many nights were spent in the bar at the Marselis in Denmark, which I know was his favourite hotel there, and Mackies restaurant in Aarhus which was always Gavin’s go to place.

I know Gavin will be missed by all of his colleagues.
