Although our paths crossed at various conferences and scientific meetings over the years, I only really got to know Stuart when I moved to Manchester in 2015. Indeed it was a phone call with Stuart in the summer of 2014 that initiated my move across the Pennines. With our offices next door we often popped in on each other to discuss research and wider issues. Stuart’s untimely passing has robbed us of a valued colleague and friend. His legacy will be his outstanding scientific contributions to dementia research.
