Doyin, what a life.
While we didn’t have many dealings during our school days, we came together to work closely toward the end. Hearing everyone else’s memories of you now, I resonate with every single one. I think, Yes, that is exactly the Doyin I knew and experienced.
I remember feeling incredibly humbled when you reached out to collaborate with me. Working together and achieving our goals made me feel truly valued. I remember thinking, Wow, Doyin reached out to me.
I never imagined our time would be this short, or that I would ever have to speak of you in the past tense. When I heard the shocking news of your demise, I genuinely thought it was a joke. I kept hoping you would step forward and say, “No, I am here.” After all, people wake up from comas, and you were always a fighter—a true warrior.
But alas, you are gone, gone to the beyond. I wanted to wish that you would continue reaching out, but I know that would be selfish. You have done your bit, and you have run your race. Rest well, sleep tight, and good night, Doyin Onagoruwa
