Helen was a very dedicated and committed Parenting Support Service Manager. She led her team with passion and zest. Helen was a woman of vision. She was consistent in her approach to leadership. As a manager, Helen was assertive, never takes no for an answer – she was solution focused. Helen’s partnership approach to leadership was reflected in how she ensures that every member of the parenting team contributes to service planning and delivery. Helen was a conscientious woman – very disciplined and committed manager, with exceptional organisation skills. 

Helen worked passionately to set up the systems for Lambeth Parenting Support Service, and ensures processes are followed. She was committed to partnership working with the multidisciplinary and multiagency teams, to ensure parents have access to evidence-based parenting programmes, and support to achieve positive outcomes for their children and families.

Helen did her best to ensure that her staff were developing within their roles to meet service standards. I remember Helen encouraging me to take some courses to enhance my role as a parenting practitioner.

Helen had a holistic approach to leadership – a loving mother and wife.  Helen talks a lot about family – she was very proud to tell us she has a very supported family. Helen shares the progress of the children with the team – we laugh together when she talks about the children. Helen was very creative during our team meetings – she brings in opportunity for fun and laughter, through either a game, activity, or something to share about ourselves and life experience growing up.

Helen ensured that all her staff were supported during the Covid 19 lockdown – she always checks-in to ensure her team was keeping well and supported. The screen was no barrier, Helen was a good listener, and was always present during meetings and supervision.  Helen has left a good legacy, even in illness Helen was still going strong – full of life and hopeful.

Remembrance is a beautiful thing. We celebrate Helen’s life and pray that the Almighty God will continue to comfort and support the family now and always – Amen!
