Dan Pearson had been a member of the Poultry Veterinary Study Group of Europe (PVSGEU) since 2003. He was an indispensable part of our group with his constant commitment to the group and the European poultry industry, his always calm, thoughtful but also determined manner. He was always the contact person for me in important questions concerning our breeding companies and the whole poultry world. His wide connections and contacts were important building blocks in the attempt to promote the concerns of the poultry industry and to gain their understanding with international organisations and authorities. In 2019, the PVSG Committee appointed Dan as Junior Vice President with the clear aim of placing the presidency of the PVSGEU in his hands for the next 2 years at the end of this year, thereby also sending an important signal for the cohesion of poultry veterinarians in Europe. Unfortunately, this remains denied to us, as surely many other things he had planned in his life.

Our deep sadness and condolence in these difficult hours go especially to his dear wife Christina, who accompanied him so often to our meetings in various European places. We will always keep Dan in our memories and hearts with great gratitude.
