Bernard Crump, Emeritus Professor of Practice in Healthcare and Leadership

Deeply saddened to hear this news. I had the great honour and privilege to work as a member of Bernard’s team at the NHS Institute. There are many experiences I could share about his amazing leadership style and great vision. However I am going to focus on his qualities that made him the wonderful man he was. His sense of humour was a great quality which he used to good effect at work and socially. His smile lit up a room. I had one occassion to bring my daughter Sophie to work aged 4 ( now 27). He promptly took her off to his office where she was allowed to use his PC and to spin in his swivel chair! He shook her hand when she asked was he ‘mummy’s big boss Bernard’?. Afterwards she said I was lucky to have such a fun and nice boss and I was. She later joined the NHS after University and I am sure Bernard’s influence played a part. He was a great colleague, superb leader and wonderful family orientated man. My condolences to Isabel and family. He will be very sadly missed.
