Dr YuZhi Cai

Dear Yuzhi,

I still can’t believe you are with us no more. All I can think and remember is your gentleness and caring nature. As a colleague, you are so solid in the excellent research you do and never seeks anything else but quality and scientific truth. Despite being an expert in your own area (quantile) and wide statistical field, you never boast. Instead, you are always humble to learn and supportive to others around you. I remember you responded to one particular review on your paper for the Hawkes process special issue: your wonderful sense of curiosity, joy and satisfaction with learning new things and improvements are so infectious and mark a true scholar. I have full respect for that. As a friend, you are not only gentle, caring, but always wise. You often pull us together for special occasions. I would never forget the time we celebrated the Chinese new year, the BBQ, the chive you grew and many more cherishable moments. I am still using the lovely Chinese jar you gifted me for my wedding every day and will miss you every day.  I hope you now rest in joy and peace with no pain or suffering. I also wish your families stay strong and blessed when they miss you, too!

Much much love,

Maggie
