Such a loss, for her loving family, many friends, colleagues across the world as well as all those whose livelihoods she contributed to protect and improve. Her unique energy, constant enthusiasm and remarkable stamina made her unstoppable in her fight for many just if challenging causes. She was arousing admiration, even from those who disagreed with her, as she was one of the few really making a difference.

We were friends for many years, from our early days trying to secure tangible benefits to stakeholders across the Caucasus to our joint efforts promoting gender equality in hard core projects, to her final combat in the last few years. Farewell Michaela, you will be survived by imperishable memories of a larger than life personality.
