Marion Milne

I first met Marion just over 10 years ago when registering my son to start P1 at Nether Currie.  I still remember so clearly what a welcoming figure Marion was on that very first visit into the school office and the time she took to take note of how to pronounce our surname and to make sure that she was saying it correctly.  Little did I know then how many times I would pop into that office over the years to see Marion to ask a question about school related things, PTA business, or maybe just to say a quick hello on the way to doing something else in school or when picking up the kids from afterschool club.  She became so involved in the lives of both my children while they were at Nether Currie and indeed always kept up with them after they both moved onto high school.  Marion was always there for the scrapped knees, bumped heads, sore tummys or just for a wee hug when needed but also for the triumphs and celebrations of Over and Above awards, sports days and leavers ceremonies.  She really was right at the heart of Nether Currie and kept everyone on track.  I know that the school will find the strength to go on without her but there will most definitely be a Marion-shaped hole in that school office.

She was so important to me personally too.  She was my guide and sometimes just a listening ear and sounding board for all things PTA while I was Chair for 3 years.  I can’t imagine having done any of it without the support of the amazing Marion.  Always on hand to help with the admin side of things but equally happy to muck in and help with setting up, clearing up and helping at all the events.  I still can’t actually believe that she’s gone and won’t be there the next time I am in the school for the next PTA event.

I popped into see Marion for what would be the last time before Christmas and I was so pleased to hear all about her long weekend trips away and how she was enjoying her shorter working week.  I feel eternally grateful for having known her. What a shining light she was.  She touched the lives of so many and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Sending love and strength to her family and the whole Nether Currie school community.  Rest in peace Marion x
