It was with great sadness and shock that we heard the news of Mary’s death. It seems so unfair that someone with such energy and purpose should have her time snatched away after such a short retirement.
She was a force and an original, with a zest for life and a deep love of the School, something which communicated itself powerfully to the whole community. I am extremely grateful to her for her kindness and support of me, both personally and professionally and I know that there will be many who remember her with huge affection.
When the rawness of grief has ebbed a little, I sincerely hope that Simon, Fergus and the family will be comforted and warmed by the expressions of love and respect in this book and feel sure that in time they will be able to smile again, remembering her hearty laugh and the happy times.
