I had the privilege of sitting in a neighbouring office to Peter for several years in Colindale, and I benefited enormously from his wisdom and support. During countless outbreaks and incidents, I always knew I could knock on his door for advice, and his thoughtful, pragmatic guidance was invaluable. Even after I moved on to another role in UKHSA, Peter was always willing to help when I picked up the phone. He combined exceptional expertise with kindness, humility and good judgement, a lovely chap and a pleasure to work with. He will be greatly missed.
