Shaleen Sandhu

I want to send my deepest condolences and sympathies to Shaleen’s family and friends.  Her passing is hard to comprehend.  I cannot imagine the pain and loss that you are feeling.

Shaleen was very much loved at Diabetes UK.  Of course she was hugely professional and an expert in working with volunteers and working with communities.  Shaleen delivered very impactful work and made a very real difference to the lives of many thousands of people living with and at risk of diabetes through her years working with the charity.  In 2019 she represented us at No 10 Downing Street and met the Prime Minister.  Recently she talked to Wes Streeting the Secretary of State for Health and the CEO of NHSE when they were visiting the Midlands.  Shaleen could engage with anyone.

As well as all of her professional achievements she was a lovely lady and a wonderful, joyful colleague who has been part of the charity for more than 17 years.  A huge contribution.  Shaleen brought a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm.  If there was an opportunity to learn something new or to contribute, she was there.  Shaleen contributed to so many groups in the charity – quietly – without a fuss – but very effectively making a difference.  We will miss Shaleen and we will remember her.
