Richard (Dick) John Gibbs

Where do you start to describe such a lovely, kind and generous brother who never failed to make me laugh.

I remember the day that I asked if he would give me away at my wedding and being Richard, his answer was ‘well I wouldn’t have the cheek to charge for you!’. Or the evening I arrived home worrying about how I was going to tell Mum I’d been given a ticket from the police for speeding to find a similar ticket on the mantlepiece that Richard had been given for dangerous driving a half hour earlier. Then there was the day he was being towed home by the AA after breaking down when he rammed the back doors of the rescue vehicle in because he mistook the clutch for the break. There are so many stories to tell as he really was ‘an accident waiting to happen’ but he was just so funny.

His generous side of his nature showed when I was only allowed to go on a school cruise because he paid half the cost. I was always so grateful for his kindness and the opportunity he gave me.

One thing for certain, he will be greatly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know and love him.
