Olivia Ansell: 1991 to 2025

My memory of Olivia is her smile. However, ‘smiley’ is not a big enough adjective. Perhaps ‘joyful’ or ‘glowing’ or ‘beaming’ or ‘sparkling’ come closer, but they are not enough. Her smile lit up the room and instantly endeared her to all who met her.

‘Helpful’ also falls short, as do ‘supportive’, ‘cooperative’, and ‘efficient’. She was the engine of her side of the business – I trusted her completely. She got stuff done, right first time.

Olivia was more than just ‘kind’ or ‘friendly’ or ‘considerate’ or ‘gracious’ – her warmth and generosity of spirit made every day as her colleague a better day.

And she was far more than just ‘lively’ or ‘spirited’ or ‘dynamic’ or ‘energetic’. She was a bundle of effervescent energy.

People say ‘I have no words’ but in Olivia’s case it could not be more true. None of them seem big and bright enough to encapsulate her as a colleague and a friend.

Her memory is bright and warm and alive.
