I was very shocked to receive the sad news of James’ passing over the Christmas period. He was a character and a half who wore his GAA heart on his sleeve. I had a great time reffing James’ teams in Warwickshire (Erin Go Bragh and James Connollys) as well the annual British University tournament (with Aston Uni) during the 2007-2009 seasons – win lose or draw – he would always have the craic with you after each game.
