It is so very sad that such a kind-hearted man has been taken so early. As a young underwriter he was happy to give me the time of day.  Latterly I learnt that you could tell the time of day by his arrival in the underwriter’s office. I will miss the optimism that was always maintained at every renewal and the occasional nervous laugh about the prospect of having to present some difficult renewal terms to a client. I have very fond memories of Dave recounting various tales of years gone by.
