Lee Rainbow

Jo, Jake, Lucy – my sincere condolences, this has been a massive shock to us all, and we are here for you. It’s strange trying to write this from a work rather than personal friend perspective. Lee (or Wolfie as he was known to his football family) and I never actually worked directly together – we were in connected teams, and I still recall our boss introducing us to each other as ‘fellow Spurs fans’ back in 2007.

To my friend Lee, our first match together was Aston Villa away, New Years Day 2008 – your Dad drove, and Jake was also there. It was the first of many games together, and as part of our wider, jokingly named ‘Hardcore Firm’’! Over the years we went to increasingly more European matches together, to the point that I guess I’ve been to more overseas locations with you than with my family! Great times, and you’ll be sorely missed, but not forgotten, on our travels. Indeed, you were ‘Mr Free Cancellation’, always two steps ahead on our hotel bookings. We’ve already made hard work of the first one we’ve had to book without you, but you’ll be proud to see that we did make use of FC! Away days won’t be the same without you; all the advance organisation, sorting out trains, the anticipation, arrangements and WhatsApp messages in the days leading up to a match; ‘securing’ a table on the train in a military style operation; the ‘well deserved’ beer photos; delay repay and compo claims; the ‘Home’ message; all our regular haunts in various towns and cities across the country. And, of course, your passion for the occasional Jagerbomb. We’ll keep on giving them a cheer for you. RIP Wolfie, and COYS.
