I met Will when he was starting his PhD in the lab next door, just as I was finishing mine. Over the years we bumped into each other at training workshops, and it was great to see the progress he was making on his research project, and his development and increased confidence as a scientist. The last time I spoke to him, it was clear he’d achieved a lot. We had just been about to start a mini-project together, which I was looking forward to – I still can’t quite believe that it won’t happen. I wish I had known him better, and I feel so sorry for everyone experiencing his loss.
