In Memory of

Wullie Glennon

Wullie was with the Briggs family for 33 years, working in the Cumbernauld office which he was heavily involved with establishing.  Following a very successful period running the workshop activities, Wullie moved into the IT team in 2006, providing support to many locations.  A further period of focused support was given to the Scottish Region in 2012 as it expanded and more recently being heavily involved in the Digital Transformation project.

Wullie was an extremely helpful person, willing to help and support everyone he came into contact with. Wullie was a personal friend of many, as well as a work colleague, who always had a big broad smile on his face, no matter the task he was undertaking.

So many people have expressed such warm memories and feelings for Wullie and he will be greatly missed, please record your memories and stories of your time with Wullie.

Wullie was one of the kindest and most caring people I have known, always willing to lend a hand regardless of the ask and always with a laugh. I will miss him greatly as I’m sure will so many others. Thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. …

Orla McG (& EY Team)

On behalf of all of the EY team who have had the pleasure to work with Wullie, we wanted to share our sincere condolences to Wullie’s family and friends and much strength in moving forwards. Although we only knew Wullie for a short while over last year, we aboslutely loved Wullie’s passion for what he was doing, for his curiosity and, above all, for just being a genuinely lovely human being. We had many a laugh with Wullie during our stays in Cannock and will remember those memories fondly. We’re really grateful to have known him, even just for that little bit.  …

I was so shocked to hear of Wullie passing away, he was such a placid and friendly man. He would always take the time to have a chat and say hello to everyone when he was in the office and would always have a laugh and a joke with everyone.  Such sad sad news and he will be sorely missed by me and all who were lucky enough to work with him and have his friendship. RIP Wullie xxxx…

I was completely shocked and saddened by the news of Wullie, a good soul taken far too soon.  Wullie always had a smile on his face and warmth in is heart for everyone, always offering a helping hand to all he met. A kind, friendly and caring gentleman in every sense of the word.  Wullie was someone we were all privaliged to have known. Keep smiling Wullie and rest easy, you were alright you know but only down the one side! (as you would say!) My thoughts and best wishes are with Wullie’s family at the sad time. Take care xxx …

I was so shocked to hear the news of Wullie passing, he was such a happy, smiley person. He would walk past our department with a huge smile on his face and always asked how we were. Such a friendly and helpful person. He will be truly missed!! Thinking of all his family and close friends at this sad time. …

I was deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Wullie’s passing and my deepest condolences go out to his family and this sad, sad time. He was a colleague who became a friend whose enthusiasm was infectious and would not dim, however mundane the task we were undertaking. Over the ten years I worked alongside him he was a dedicated and trustworthy member of the team who was always there to support and usually at the front with his sleeves rolled up… He once saved my wife much embarrassment by diverting into the Yorkshire Dales on one of his many journeys down to Cannock, to retrieve her handbag after it was left by mistake visiting relatives. “We can’t have that” he said and that, was that. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him and indeed by all of my family who would ‘look after’ the occasional box of Tunnock’s Tea Cakes he would leave on my desk. Cheers Buddy…

I can’t actually believe I am writing this right now. It was such sad sad news to hear that Wullie had passed away. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends during this difficult time. Wullie was a little ray of sunshine, he always had a smile on his face, well that cheeky little grin of his. He was always helpful and supportive, and would bend over backwards to cheer you up. I always used to get greeted with with a kiss on the cheek. If I asked him if he was alright he always told me he was half left. He was such a pleasure to work with and will be irreplaceable. He has left a big hole within Briggs he will be deeply missed. I am blessed to have worked and to have known such a great guy. RIP Wullie xxx…

I was so Shocked and Saddened to hear of the passing of Wullie. I personally did not know him well, but as of late, we had been working on the new ERP project, and you could tell with his presence, that he had a lot of experience and knowledge to share.  Wullie will be a great loss to our business, but even more so to his family and friends. My thoughts are with you all…

Wullie G, What can I say, laughing with a few tears in my eyes while typing this,  I’ve had 30 years of abuse/slagging from you for various reasons but the biggest was me being a parts person who was a mixed up Rangers fan (that’s the polite version), then we won’t talk about lumps you would kick out me at 5-a-sides even when in your team, lets just say you where never a graceful player. After all that, what a nice person to be around and I can’t thank you enough for the help and assistance you gave me over the years, from when I started in stores to our chats after work at the bar when we where both at Cannock.  I can safely say you had a positive influence on me and always happy help, give me advice and point me in the right direction.  I will miss our verbal volleys at each other and miss the storys as we reminisced and laughed at others expense. My colleague, my friend, what a pleasure to have know you. RIP Wullie G.  …
